Support² is a platform site with a selection of tools available. Central to the idea is the framing of the site which is aimed at young people who are concerned for, or actively supporting someone with a mental health problem.
The site involves a wider media campaign encouraging young people to look out for each others wellbeing. It also includes:
A story sharing section
A section in which to share your own stories and concerns, alongside with reading the stories of others. Plain text for longer stories and visual tool for short ‘confessions’ and advice can be chosen by the website user. This tool allows them to choose an image from a user generated, but moderated, bank as a background, and add text in a forn of their choice.
Using themed forums, young people can discuss their concerns with other users and experts. Experts will be answering questions in real time with the help of designated time slots and also play administrative role. Users are able to block and report negative comments, and set their own trigger filters in order to begin using the forums.
Messages and chats can be risky, so young people set conversation parameters – a person’s profile displays these parameters and have reminders to check that they stick to these.
